Sui Foundation Launches Multi-year Security Push to Harden its Ecosystem

The sui Foundation has unveiled a comprehensive, multi-year security initiative aimed at fortifying its entire ecosystem. The program extends beyond the base-layer protocol to include applications, wallets, explorers, and third-party tools—areas where most attacks occur. Backed by a $10 million commitment, the Sui Ecosystem Security Expansion Initiative will fund proactive monitoring, formal verification, exploit simulation, and shared defense tools.

The MOVE comes as the Web3 space grapples with escalating security threats. In the first half of 2025 alone, nearly $2.5 billion was impacted by hacks and exploits. Sui's approach seeks to address this systemic vulnerability by building ecosystem-wide defenses rather than focusing on individual project patches.

"For too long, advanced security has been an overlooked part of crypto tooling," said Christian Thompson, Managing Director of the Sui Foundation. The initiative reflects a growing recognition that audits alone are insufficient—true security requires layered protection across all ecosystem components.
